For Foreign Residents: Census Notice
What is Census?
The government conducts this survey every five years to collect information
about people living in Japan, households, and other related details.
Who Must Complete Census?
Everyone living in Japan is required to complete the survey, including foreign residents.
How to Complete?
You will receive a letter at home. A return envelope will be included with the letter.
You can complete the survey either online or using the paper form.
◆ If you are answering online: You can respond in one of the 8 languages listed below.
【Japanese, English, Chinese （Simplified・Traditional）, Korean, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Spanish】
◆ If you are answering using the paper form: After completing the form, put it inside the return envelope and post it.
※ No postage stamp is required.
Deadline: October 8, 2025
