Pregnancy for Technical Intern Trainees　/　技能実習生（ぎのう じっしゅうせい）の 妊娠（にんしん）について

Pregnant Workers' Rights/ 妊婦（にんぷ）の 働（はたら）く 権利（けんり）

Pregnancy → When a baby is inside the body.

In Japan, companies CANNOT FIRE (dismissal) YOU just because you become pregnant.
This is against Japanese law, and companies must obey the law.

If a company tries to fire you because you are pregnant, call OTIT as SOON as possible!
OTIT and the Immigration Services Agency of Japan help protect pregnant workers.

Please don’t worry!

Pregnant workers can continue working during pregnancy and after giving birth.
If you want to keep working, you do not have to quit your job. No one can force you to quit.

If you don’t want to go back to your home country, the agencies (sending organizations and
supervising organizations) are NOT ALLOWED to send you back! It’s against the law.

Allowance / 手当金（てあて きん）

  • Childbirth and Childcare Lump-Sum Allowance (shussan ikuji ichijikin)
    Your insurance (your company’s social insurance or National Health Insurance) will send
    “Childbirth and Childcare Lump-Sum Allowance” to the hospital where you gave birth.
    *You need to apply. Ask your company or hospital how to do the procedure.
  • Childbirth Allowance (shussan teatekin)
  • you can also receive the "Childbirth Allowance (shussan teatekin)", this allowance is provided for the period before
    and after giving birth, because you cannot work during that time.
    Notice: If you are not enrolled (joined) in the company’s social insurance, cannot receive the "Childbirth Allowance".
