Child Support Allowance
(Jido Fuyo Teate no Shikyuu 児童扶養手当の支給)
Allowances are available for single mothers or guardians take care of the children under 18 years old who lost their father (by death or divorce) or father is not able to work due to severe mentally or physically disabled.
This applies to alien residents, also.

Naha City offers counseling service.
Parents who have children between 0 to 18 years old could consult about children and child-rearing concerns.
Daily Life Support Project for Single Parent
(Boshi Katei Tou Nichijyou Seikatu Shien Jigyou 母子家庭等日常生活支援事業)
This project is subjected to: single-mother, single-father and widows who need temporary childcare or nursing service due to illness, work, accident, delivering a baby, job hunting or other reasons.
What this program offer?
- Childcare for infants and babies
- Nursing for sick and elderly
- Contacting with clinic, hospital or other medical facility
- Other necessary business

- Application for daily life support project (Nichijyou Seikatu Shien Sinseisho 日常生活支援申請書：pick up a copy at Child-rearing Support Division counter)
- Seal (Inkan 印鑑)
- Resident Register Certified Copy (Jyuminhyo Touhon 住民票謄本)
- Proof of Income (Shotoku Shoumei 所得証明)

The welfare center assists independence of widows or single-parent family by consultation and offering specialized courses (i.e. computer skill and Japanese dressmaking).

This facility shelters single families in case of emergency and assists independence.

＊ Please look “Special Child Care Project”, under the Welfare/Health Short-stay Project (Tanki Nyusho Seikatsu Enjyo Jigyou 短期入所生活援助事業)
This project will temporarily take care of the children of 3 years to 12 years old when parents/guardians are not able to take care of them due to hospitalization, treatment or other reasons.
Single- parent Medical Cost Subsidy
(Boshi oyobi Fushi Katei Iryouhi Jyosei 母子および父子家庭等医療費助成)
The Single- parent Medical Cost Subsidy applies to
- single-mother and children
- single-father and children
- orphans, or children who are abandoned by the parents (For children, this subsidy applies until the end of fiscal year of child’s 18th birthday.)
The content of "Single- parent Medical Cost Subsidy"
- For hospital/clinic visit:
- subsidy will cover the medical cost over 1,000 yen in month per hospital or clinic.
- For hospitalization:
- subsidy will cover the medical cost over 700 yen per day.
- (For families exempt from citizen tax, over 300 yen per day will be covered.)
Please bring the following items
- Certificate of Medical Cost Subsidy (Iryou-hi Jyosei Jyukyusha-sho)
- National Health Insurance Certificate
- Receipt with medical cost points (Iryou-hi Tensuu 医療費点数) or Medical Cost Subsidy Receipt (Iryou-hi Jyoseikin Shikyu Ryoushu-sho 医療費助成金支給領収書) issued by hospital/clinic.
- To qualify the subsidy, applicants must apply in advance (income-tested).
