Alien registration

All non-Japanese nationals who will stay in Japan for 90 days or more (except those covered by the Japan-US. Status of Forces Agreement and person with dual nationality, Japanese and another) are obligated by law to register as an alien resident.

Applicants

In person (If applicant is 15 or younger, guardian who resides with the applicant)

Required Items

photo

Passport and 2 photos (taken within six months, blank background, and 45mm×35mm)

  • If applicant is 15 or younger, photo is not required.
  • Please bring Certificate of National Health Insurance if your household is the member of NHI.

Certificate of Alien Registration

  • Gaikokujin Touroku Genpyo Kisai Jikou Shoumeisho
  • (外国人登録原票記載事項証明書)
  • ・In person or member of your household who resides with the person could request the certificate
  • ・Proxy must bring the power of attorney
    • (If proxy is member of household who resides with the person, power of attorney is not required.  But proxy must bring the ID to verify name and address.)
  • ・【Fee】　３００yen per copy
